Clinical Services:
Preventive Cardiology Clinic
Back to Cardiovascular Programs & Services List
For more than three decades, the Preventive Cardiology Clinic at Children's Hospital Boston has offered services to children aimed at identifying and medically managing cholesterol and blood pressure problems early in life, with the goal of preventing heart attack or stroke later in life.

It is the only clinical service in the Northeast that focuses on preventing heart disease in children. Children who come here are followed by a multidisciplinary team that includes:

  • physicians trained in pediatric cardiology and heart disease prevention
  • a nurse practitioner
  • dieticians experienced in pediatric hyperlipidemia, a condition characterized by high levels of lipids (fats) in the blood, and essential hypertension.
