About us

The Boston Children’s Hospital Center for Refugee Trauma and Resilience was founded at Boston Children’s in 2007 as part of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), under the leadership of Dr. Glenn Saxe (Director) and Dr. Heidi Ellis (Associate Director). Previously, Drs. Saxe and Ellis co-led the NCTSN Center for Medical and Refugee Trauma at Boston Medical Center (2001-2005). In October of 2010 Dr. Saxe assumed the position of Chief of Child Psychiatry at New York University (NYU) and Director of the NYU Child Study Center. The NCTSN Center for Refugee Trauma and Resilience, based out of NYU, continues as a collaboration between NYU and Children’s Hospital Boston.

At the Boston Children’s Center for Refugee Trauma and Resilience, under the direction of Dr. Heidi Ellis, we continue our commitment to raising the standard of care for refugee children and families as we further our mission to better understand and promote the healthy adjustment of refugee children and adolescents who have resettled in the United States.
