Career Development

Orientation

Residents participate in several orientations, including within the Boston Children's Hospital Department of Neurology amd a hospital-wide orientation, as well as at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. This time is used for residents to get to know each other, to get to know the hospitals and to learn more about the rotations.

Advisors

The Children's Neurology Department aims to provide not only optimal educational training but also support and career planning for trainees. The advisor system is an important component to provide personal faculty guidance to residents throughout their training. The advisor serves as a resource in personal and professional decision making.

The role of the advisor includes:

  • developing a personal relationship with the resident
  • providing advice and guidance about career choices
  • advocating for the resident
  • facilitating the advisee’s development throughout residency

Residents are encouraged to select an advisor who matches their clinical and/or research interests. Residents typically meet with their advisors at least two times each year.
