Child Neurology Residency Training Program
Electives
Residents choose a variety of experiences for their elective training time during the second and third year of training. Many residents spend elective time in the EMG and EEG laboratories at Children’s Hospital and its affiliated adult institutions.
Many choose to gain elective experience in one of the many subspecialties offered at Children’s Hospital Boston, such as Neonatal Neurology, the Neuromuscular Clinic and the Learning Disability Clinic. Other frequently selected opportunities include the Neuropathology, Epileptology and Neuroimaging electives. We also have a number of overseas elective possibilities, including: Chile (National Institute of Metabolic Diseases), South Africa, India, and Bolivia.
Additionally, research opportunities in both clinical and basic neuroscience are abundant. The scientific efforts of faculty members at affiliated hospitals, combined with the research of scientists at the Harvard and MIT Neuroscience programs, provide a spectacular environment for the neurologist in training.
Residents are encouraged to seek advanced training, or to set up projects under the mentorship of these investigators. Research projects undertaken during residency elective time in the recent past are included in our Resident Publications list.
