Congenital Heart Valve Program
Aortic Valve
Complex Aortic Valve Repair
Children's cardiologists are performing fetal interventions on fetuses diagnosed with HLHS with aortic stenosis and/or intact atrial septums. If a neonate is born with critical aortic stenosis, our cardiologists utilize catheter-based balloon dilation techniques to dilate the aortic valve. Then as neonates and infants age into childhood, surgeons are able to use techniques to repair complex aortic valve regurgitation and stenosis. The aging child with congenital heart disease matures into adulthood, surgeons are then able to use aortic valve sparring techniques to repair the aortic root and/or complications from rheumatic heart disease.
