Cerebrovascular Disorders and Stroke Program

Inpatient care

The Cerebrovascular Disorders and Stroke Inpatient Program supports patients throughout Boston Children's Hospital with:

• Aneurysms
• Arterial ischemic stroke
• Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
• Cavernous malformations
• Cerebral sinovenous thrombosis
• Moyamoya disease
• Non-traumatic central nervous system hemorrhage
• Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs, or "mini-strokes")
• Clinical symptoms that raise concern for the possibility of stroke or a cerebrovascular event as cause

In the hospital, our team:

• Provides care for patients with suspected or confirmed stroke
• Is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to evaluate children and to assess whether a child with acute stroke might be a candidate for thrombolytic therapy
• Coordinates consultation with other specialties including neurosurgery, interventional radiology, hematology and cardiology
