Cerebrovascular Disorders and Stroke Program
Inpatient care
The Cerebrovascular Disorders and Stroke Inpatient Program supports patients throughout Boston Children's Hospital with:
- Aneurysms
- Arterial ischemic stroke
- Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
- Cavernous malformations
- Cerebral sinovenous thrombosis
- Moyamoya disease
- Non-traumatic central nervous system hemorrhage
- Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs, or "mini-strokes")
- Clinical symptoms that raise concern for the possibility of stroke or a cerebrovascular event as cause
In the hospital, our team:
- Provides care for patients with suspected or confirmed stroke
- Is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to evaluate children and to assess whether a child with acute stroke might be a candidate for thrombolytic therapy
- Coordinates consultation with other specialties including neurosurgery, interventional radiology, hematology and cardiology
