General Information on Hearing Loss in Children
  • www.listen-up.org
The most extensive of many such informational sites, well organized, great links. The cochlear implant section is www.listen-up.org/implant/htm, but don't miss other sections on educational laws, etc.
Unfortunately, the award-winning HiP Magazine for deaf and hard of hearing children is no longer being published, due to lack of funds. However, recent back issues still can be ordered, with wonderful articles on deaf and hard of hearing adult role models, contributions from children, etc.

Classroom Acoustics Coalition, with online version of excellent booklet called Classroom Acoustics: A Resource for Creating Learning Environments with Desirable Listening Conditions.
Captioned Videos
  • www.cfv.org
Captioned Media Program of the National Association of the Deaf, funded by the US Dept. of Education. Online catalog of thousands of open-captioned videos of interest to children and adults; free loan with prepaid mailer to return the video. Good resource for school teachers who often use non-captioned videos in the classroom for instruction.
