Kelley Flynn had been profoundly deaf since she was two. What little hearing she had -- boosted by a conventional hearing aid -- was worsening. All of that changed when, at the age of 7, she received a cochlear implant from Children's Hospital Boston. Her story was featured in April 2005 on the PBS series "Scientific American Frontiers".
