The Headache Program at Children's Hospital Boston, headed by Co-Directors Dr. Alyssa LeBel, and Dr. Anna Minster, provides care for children and adolescents with headaches, including migraine, cluster, tension type, and headaches caused by medical disorders.
What we offer:
Pediatric-focused care -- Headaches are a common and anxiety provoking problem in children. Our care focuses specifically on the diagnosis and treatment of children with acute or chronic headaches. Our program is designed to quickly assess and diagnose the cause of headaches, and then put together a therapeutic plan that is tailored to the specific needs of the child. For management of patients with chronic headaches, there is a multi-disciplinary headache clinic located at Children's Hospital Boston's Waltham satellite, which offers evaluation by a neurologist or pain specialist in conjunction with a psychologist who specializes in working with children living with chronic pain.
A comprehensive approach --Our patients are seen by physicians trained in neurology and pain management / anesthesia who specialize in the diagnosis and management of headaches. These specialists then work with other therapists from a wide range of disciplines and specialties (acupuncture, complementary therapies, psychology) to develop an appropriate treatment plan. We closely collaborate with referring providers to create seamless delivery of care. After an initial assessment with appropriate referrals for medical conditions, our specialists work with the child and family to reduce headaches and restore optimal quality of life.
Convenient locations -- Headache experts are available in Boston, Peabody, Lexington, Waltham and Weymouth. The multi-disciplinary headache clinic is located in Waltham.
Short Wait Time -- With our expanded faculty and staff, our headache specialists can quickly schedule clinical appointments ensuring shorter waiting times.
