Child Life Specialists enhance patients' emotional, social and cognitive growth during a hospital stay, giving special consideration to each child's family, culture and stage of development.

Child life specialists use developmental interventions and play to help patients and families adjust to and understand the hospital and their medical situation.

As professionals trained to work with children in medical settings, each specialist holds a bachelor's or master's degree in the areas of child life, child development, special education or recreation therapy. Many child life specialists are also professionally certified and affiliated with the national Child Life Council.

Tutoring
Tutoring at Children's Hospital Boston All students will be seen in accordance with their home state's legal requirements for homebound and hospital tutoring. Hospital tutors will contact the child's school to obtain a curriculum and develop an individual plan for your child.

Each student working with Education, Inc. receives attendence credit and is kept up to date with his or her classroom curriculum

Massachusetts students are eligible for homebound and hospital tutoring services if they anticipate being absent from school for 14 days or more. The 14 days of abscence can be consecutive or add up to 14 days nonconsecutively

If your child is currently in the hospital, contact the child life specialist on that unit to set up tutoring services.
