In addition, the transplant teams have access to all the other Medical Specialties available in the hospital for consults such as Neurology, Orthopedics, Occupational and Physical Therapy, etc.
Chaplaincy
Chaplains at Children's Hospital Boston represent a variety of faiths, including Islam, Judaism, Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. We are available 24 hours a day to offer spiritual and emotional support to your child and family. Sensitive consideration is given to your family's religious tradition and primary language.

You may request a chaplain's visit at any time by calling our office directly at 617-355-6664 or by asking your nurse to page us.

Child Life Services
Child Life Specialists enhance our transplant patients' emotional, social and cognitive growth during a hospital stay, giving special consideration to each child's family, culture and stage of development. Our professionals are trained to work in the areas of child life, child development, special education or recreation therapy.
Infectious Disease
Children's Hospital Boston has an Immunocompromised Host Service (within the Division of Infectious Diseases) which specifically focuses on the infectious issues affecting transplant recipients.
Nutrition

Using innovative diagnostic and evaluation techniques, the staff develops appropriate nutrition plans for infants, children and adolescents who suffer from a variety of disorders.
Perioperative Transplant Team
The Perioperative Transplant Team at Children's Hospital Boston is a group of highly skilled and experienced professionals dedicated exclusively to the care of patients having a transplant. Transplant surgeons, operating room nursing staff, anesthesiologists, and cardiopulmonary perfusionists work collaboratively to provide individualized care to each patient. We are with your child from the time you arrive in the pre-operative waiting area until your child is safely in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Recovery Room (PACU).

Long-term continuity of mental health care is critical and can include as many as 2 visits a week and can last as long as 15-20 years. Psychiatrists and psychologists are available to complement, augment and support the ongoing medical care for transplant patients.
