Primary care in the Women's Health Services at Martha Eliot Health Center is provided by nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives whose main goals are preventing the development of health problems, and assisting women in creating and maintaining healthy habits. A part of every visit is devoted to education and encouraging our patients participate in decisions about their care.
Services provided include:
- Annual exams and periodic gynecological services
- Breast and cervical screenings and mammograms for uninsured or underinsured women
- Management of acute, uncomplicated health care problems
- Family Planning
- Prenatal care and gynecological specialty services, including colposcopy
- Prenatal classes in English & Spanish
- Home visits for high risk women and first time teen parents
- Anonymous and confidential HIV testing and counseling
- Care of pre and post menopausal women
- Referrals to other health care services (mental health, optometry) and specialty services offered at Brigham & Women's Hospital.
Our team of nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives work closely with gynecologists and internal medicine specialists to assure the best care of our patients, in addition to assessing physical, psychological, and social needs and developing comprehensive health care plans.
