Simulator Program
Meet the Sims
The Simulator Program at Childrens Hospital Boston has a diverse group of mannequins and trainers to accommodate a wide range of scenarios. These scenarios can be anything from basic competency training in our own lab (located in the Medical and Surgical ICU) to Crisis Resource Management (CRM) courses in the OR. We strive to create as a clinical environment that is as close as possible to real life situations. Our mannequins listed below are some of the ones that we commonly use.
Pediatric and Adult Mannequins
Laerdal SimBaby is a full-body infant simulator with realistic heart sounds, breath sounds, palpable pulses, and sophisticated airway anatomy. It can be monitored, defibrillated and paced. Intravenous access can be gained. It cries and coos. The realism of the manikin allows clinicians to suspend disbelief in order to practice low-frequency, high-risk events; communication, teamwork and critical skills.
