The Simulator Program operates as a post-graduate university for trainees from multiple disciplines and departments through competency-based training and professional staff development courses. Competency-based training
courses have been created for physicians,
nurses, and respiratory therapists.
Novel approaches to address Accreditation
Council for Graduate Medical
Education requirements for resident
trainees have been explored by creating simulation-enhanced courses that include didactics and hands-on application of theory learned within the simulated environment. Courses
to enhance staff development include
orientation for critical care nurses, orientation
for rotating surgical residents,
and preceptor training for respiratory
therapists.
