Clinical Services:
Robotic Surgery
Back in 2001, our hospital became the first hospital for children to obtain a surgical robot. Today, our center includes two robots, which perform two to four urological surgical procedures per week.
Surgical Procedures
The following robotic surgical procedures are routinely performed at our center:

  • Bladder augmentation/Continent urinary diversion
Enlargement of the bladder with bowel in order to provide a low pressure, large capacity reservoir for urine storage. Alternative methods of emptying the bladder.

  • Pyeloplasty: Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJ obstruction)
Repair of the obstruction at the junction of the ureter and the renal pelvis.

  • Renal surgery
Reconstruction of the upper urinary tract.

  • Ureteral reconstruction
Repair of the anomalies of the ureters such as obstruction.

  • Retrovesical surgery
Repair and removal of anomalies of genitourinary tract behind the bladder.
Port placements
Each procedure requires specific port placements of the surgical robot's arms.
Setup details
Setup guidelines for each procedure, including patient, robot and camera positioning are included in the document below.
Robot setup
This presentation gives users a step-by-step guide to setting up the system components, including the InSite Vision Cart, surgeon's console and surgical cart.
Surgery Videos
We offer the opportunity for users to view our robotic surgery videos. These videos are viewable online and are updated on an ongoing basis.
