Healthy eating ideas  

 

  Try some of these healthful snacks:
celery with peanut butter
  fruit, such as bananas, strawberries, oranges, apples
pretzels
  hummus with pita bread
cheese and crackers
  half a healthy sandwich
pudding
  yogurt with granola
fruit salad
  granola bar
low fat milk or soy milk
  applesauce
trail mix

 

Fruit Smoothie (from allrecipes.com)

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart strawberries
  • 1 banana in pieces
  • 2 peaches
  • 1 cup low fat milk
  • 2 cups ice
Directions:

In a blender combine fruit and blend until pureed. Add milk and ice and blend to desired texture.

Edible Face (from allrecipes.com)

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce cheddar cheese
  • 8 thin wheat crackers
  • 2 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ? cup shredded carrot
  • 1 orange, peeled and in sections
Directions:

Cut cheese into shapes (squares, circles, triangles). Place cheese and tomato on crackers. Use these items along with the carrot and orange to make the face complete with eyes, nose, ears and hair!

Sandoodles (from dole.com)

Ingredients:

  • 1 large red delicious apple
  • 2 tablespoons of seedless raisins
  • 2 teaspoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon sugar
Directions:

Core the apple, slice into at least 8 slices. Spread a thin layer of peanut butter on one side of an apple slice. Sprint with a few raisins, and then top with another apple slice. Sprinkle the top of your sandooodle with a little cinnamon sugar.

Yogurt Parfait (from allrecipes.com)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups low fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup granola, Grapenuts, or Honey Bunches of Oats
  • 8 blackberries
Directions:

In a large glass layer 1 cup yogurt, ? c granola, and 4 blackberries, repeat layers.
