Flower Patient Stories
Image Kelly Becomes a Star
Kelley Flynn had been profoundly deaf since she was two. What little hearing she had -- boosted by a conventional hearing aid -- was worsening. All of that changed when, at the age of 7, she received a cochlear implant from Children's Hospital Boston. Her story was featured in April 2005 on the PBS series "Scientific American Frontiers".
Second bionic ear gives depth to sound
Sarah Novick, 5, of Windham, Maine, is one of just a few children in the world with two cochlear implants, a device that can bring a world of sound to people who are born deaf.

Devices can offer hope to deafened children
For a child with profound hearing loss, early identification and treatment is incredibly important to language development, especially during the critical period between birth and 3 years.

Helping teens make sound decisions
Childrens' Cochlear Implant video helps teens decide if they want to get a cochlear implant.
