How do I make an appointment?

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm. To schedule an appointment call 781-216-2215 V or 781-647-8913 TTY.

When you call you will be asked for some background information about your child's condition. This will help us determine if our center is best suited for your child's needs.

You will also be asked to fill out an intake questionnaire which asks for specific information about your child's medical and education history.

As soon as this information is received and reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment date with the appropriate specialists.

How long will my appointment take?

Patients frequently meet with a number of specialists during their evaluation.

Your child may meet with up to 5 specialists during their visit which may take a full day. For certain combinations, we will spread appointments out over 2-3 visits.

What should I bring to the appointment?

Please bring your child's insurance card and any recent reports or evaluation results, including audiograms.

What happens during the evaluation?

For young children, a typical evaluation occurs during play-based assessment, clinical observation, and by parental report. Generally, older children are engaged in formal evaluation tasks during assessment.

The following services can be provided during an evaluation:

  • Cognitive and educational assessments
  • Functional communication and interaction assessments
  • Speech, language, and auditory skills assessments
  • Sign language skills assessment
  • Audiological evaluations
  • Amplification assessments
  • Mental health assessments
  • Social/Emotional assessment
  • Developmental pediatric examination
  • Otologic examination
