Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapy Service (OT) at Children's Hospital Boston provides evaluation, individualized treatment and follow-up care to newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities or complex medical needs.

Care is provided for patients with congenital and acquired neurological and orthopedic conditions and disabilities.

We also provide consultation to the medical and surgical staff throughout the hospital regarding occupational therapy services.

OT services are offered on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Our Staff
We are actively involved in assisting occupational therapy programs within the community, educating occupational therapists at institutions throughout the country, publishing in professional journals, and leading research that is advancing the way impairments and injuries are treated.
Our Specialties
Our occupational therapists are trained to perform comprehensive evaluations and to design appropriate treatment programs for a variety of complex medical conditions.

Treatment plans may include:

  • sensory integration
  • activities of daily living
  • visual perception
  • functional cognition
  • fine motor skills
  • upper extremity status
  • handwriting
  • Rehabilitation of complex congenital and acquired upper extremity conditions
  • Fabrication of custom upper extremity orthoses and splints

  • Assessment of adaptive equipment needs
