Image The Physical Therapy Department at Children's Hospital Boston provides evaluation, individualized treatment and a lifetime of follow-up care to newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities or complex medical needs.

Care is provided for patients with congenital and acquired conditions and disabilities, and for patients with injuries resulting from trauma, performing arts or sports-related activities.

We also provide consultation to the medical and surgical staff throughout the hospital regarding physical therapy services. Physical Therapy services are offered on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Our Staff
Our department is staffed by an experienced team of pediatric specialists, including seven board-certified physical therapists.

Our staff is actively involved in physical therapy programs within the community, the education of physical therapists at institutions throughout the country, publishing in professional journals, and leading research that is advancing the way impairments and injuries are treated.

Our Philosophy
Collaborate with the health care team
Our staff works closely with all members of the health care team, including family members, to provide the best possible care to each patient.

Provide individualized treatment
Treatment programs are based on thorough evaluations and are always individualized to meet the needs of each patient.

Involve and educate the family
We emphasize participation of the family or other caregivers in each patient's treatment program. Patients and caregivers are educated about the role of physical therapy and are encouraged to be involved in treatment sessions whenever possible.
