Child neurology residents at Children's Hospital Boston have a number of opportunities during their residency to hone their teaching skills. Our senior residents partner with our attendings to insure that daily inpatient rounds explicitly address topics that are relevant to the resident members of the team. Our senior residents also play an important teaching role child with a variety of other individuals who come to Children's Hospital to further their education.
Children's Hospital pediatric residents train with the Department of Neurology for one month of their residency. The Department provides each pediatric resident with a detailed syllabus encompassing the most crucial aspects of child neurology that pediatricians should know in depth, and the child neurology senior ward resident supervises the daily activities of these residents. Our senior residents also supervise approximately 10 to 12 fourth-year medical students, primarily from Harvard Medical School, who take inpatient extern clerkships on our inpatient Neurology Service each year. Our outpatient resident continuity clinics host CHB psychiatry residents, and we are also involved in the training of fellows in behavioral and developmental medicine. Finally, 12 to 24 physicians and medical students, often from foreign countries, participate yearly in our teaching activities, primarily as observers.
