Flower Training
Scott Pomeroy, M.D., Ph.D.
Basil Darras, M.D.
Thank you for your interest in the Child Neurology Residency Training Program at the Children's Hospital of the Harvard Medical School. This vigorous and exciting training program is committed to providing the very best clinical training in preparation for a fulfilling career in child neurology. The breadth and depth of the training opportunities in the various subspecialties of child neurology and in both clinical and basic research are unparalleled. We consider our training mission to be the development of the future leaders of academic child neurology in the United States. Since its inception, our child neurology training program has undergone major increases in size and scope. What has remained unchanged throughout the years, however, has been our strong commitment to the development of the future leaders in the field of child neurology. Our residents are chosen not only on the basis of their academic credentials but also on their human qualities. We feel strongly that unselfish, dedicated and collegial physicians, who work well together, are central to a fulfilling training experience for all residents.
Child Neurology Residency
Scott Pomeroy, MD, PhD, Neurologist-in-Chief at Children's Hospital Boston, maintains overall responsibility for our training program together with Basil T. Darras, MD, Associate Neurologist-in-Chief and Director of the Children's Hospital Residency Training Program for the Department of Neurology. Since its founding in 1967, the Program has grown to five residents per year and has become one of the most desired residency programs in child neurology in the United States. The size and depth of our program are unparalleled, not only in terms of sheer numbers of patients, residents and faculty and the quality of the training in clinical child neurology, but also in terms of the availability of rich training opportunities in basic, clinical and translational neuroscience.
Requirements
Two years of training in pediatrics or one year of training in pediatrics and one year of neuroscience research are required for entry into the Child Neurology Training Program. Because the Children's Hospital Pediatric Residency and Child Neurology Residency are separate programs, applicants seeking pediatric residency training at Children's Hospital Boston must apply separately to the Department of Medicine at Children's and/or other pediatric programs for their pediatric training. Alternatively, individuals are eligible for application to our program if they have completed a PGY-1 in medicine in association with one residency year (PGY-2) in pediatrics.

The Department of Neurology currently accepts five new residents into its training program each year. In the fall of 2007, we will be reviewing applications for all training slots of the residency class that will start in July 2010. Due to recent expansions in our program, this year we are also accepting applications for July 2008 and July 2009.

Applications should be submitted through the San Francisco Match:
