Clinical Services:
Brain Injury Program
The Brain Injury Program at Children's Hospital Boston cares for children who have experienced a brain or spinal cord injury, from minor to the most severe.

More than 300 children with brain injuries and 40 with spinal cord or column injuries are admitted to Children's Hospital Boston each year. In addition, children are seen at the center's outpatient brain injury clinic, which screens for and treats long-term problems related to brain injuries.

Expertise across specialties
The Brain Injury Program brings together pediatric experts from a wide range of specialties -- including trauma and emergency medicine, critical care, neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and others. Through this multidisciplinary approach, the center is helping define best practices in the way injuries are cared for, from early response, through inpatient care and long-term follow-up.

Team members are actively involved in injury prevention programs within the community, the training of medical staff on injury care and treatment, and research with the long-term goal of reducing the incidence of injuries and improving outcomes for those who have been injured. The center is part of the Trauma Program at Children's Hospital Boston.
