Flower Programs for Boys
Image Boys' social skills groups (ages 7-9 & 10-12)

Facilitators of this social skills group use therapeutic group activities tailored to meet the specific needs, interests and personalities of boys. The general group goals are to:

  • enhance social skills
  • increase frustration tolerance
  • improve impulse control
  • develop (and practice) strategies for managing emotions
  • increase self esteem
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) groups (ages 8-17)
CBT is an evidence-based practice that has shown to reduce depression and anxiety. Groups will be offered throughout the year for children and adolescents coping with depression or anxiety. These groups will use manualized cognitive-behavioral treatments including, but not limited to, Coping Cat, PASCET and Adolescents Coping with Depression. Members will learn coping techniques and tools while benefiting from peer support.
Boys' social skills building group (ages 12-14)
This group is designed for boys with ADHD, depression and/or anxiety. The goals of the group are to enhance social skills, increase frustration tolerance, improve impulse control, develop strategies for managing emotions adaptively and improve self-esteem. Non-competitive play is used to help boys develop and practice their ability to cooperate, negotiate, problem-solve and resolve conflict.
Emotion management group for adolescent boys (ages 14-18)
This group helps adolescent boys learn and use techniques to better manage anger, depression and other emotions that create challenges in their daily lives at school, home and in the community.
Group for children coping with a sibling's chronic illness
Brothers and sisters of children with chronic illness and developmental disabilities now have a chance to meet and talk with other kids whose siblings have special needs. They'll have an opportunity to talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sibling with a disability. They'll also have fun, play games and make new friends. Facilitators of this support group will create a space for siblings to be able to share their feelings with others who understand.
Pair therapy for children of all ages
Pair therapy is a powerful and effective form of relational therapy where two children are matched based on their strengths and challenges. A clinician then works with the pair to foster friendship and create opportunities for them to teach and learn from each other.
