Over the last 25 years, the Urology Department at Children's Hospital Boston has maintained a Neurourology Unit that comprehensively evaluates the lower urinary tract in children.
Bladder dysfunction and urinary incontinence and infection are common problems in pediatric urology. Twenty-five percent of bladder dysfunction issues that occur in children are related to neuromuscular conditions. These issues can arise from developmental abnormalities in the fetus, problems that occur around the time of birth, or from traumatic injuries.
