Clinical Services:
Andrology Program
The Department of Urology has a strong interest in pediatric diseases that affect male hormonal and reproductive function. These include undescended testes, testicular torsion and varicocele.
Andrology is the field of urology that deals with testicular function. Several pediatric urology conditions involve testicles, such as undescended testicle, varicocele, hydrocele and certain intersex (ambiguous genitalia) conditions (abnormality of sexual differentiation).

Patients are referred for evaluation and treatment of these conditions. The treatment usually involves a surgical procedure, depending on the diagnosis. In addition, long-term follow-up is usually required.

Our department is also conducting a prospective study of patients with varicocele, to increase our understanding of the long-term consequences of varicocele diagnosed in young men.
