Organizational Structure
The program in Hematology/Oncology, though one integrated entity, is physically split between two adjacent institutions: Childrens Hospital Boston (CHB) and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). The inpatient oncology and stem cell transplant services, inpatient and outpatient hematology, and roughly half of the hematology/oncology research are located at Children's Hospital Boston; outpatient oncology and stem cell transplantation and the remaining hematology/oncology research are at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Stuart H. Orkin chairs the Department of Pediatric Oncology at the DFCI and heads the Combined Program in Hematology/Oncology. Dr. David A. Williams is Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at CHB, and directs the training program. Dr. Lisa Diller is Clinical Director of Pediatric Oncology at DFCI and CHB. She supervises the clinical programs in oncology and stem cell transplantation at both institutions. Drs. Orkin, Williams and Diller are assisted by Drs. Anu Narla and James LaBelle (Chief Fellows), Dr. Holcombe Grier (Associate Chief of Pediatric Clinical Oncology at DFCI and co-director of the training program), Dr. Ellis Neufeld (Associate Chief of Hematology, who directs clinical hematology), Dr. Leslie Lehmann (Director of Stem Cell Transplantation), Dr. Jennifer Mack (Director of the Inpatient Oncology Unit at Children's), and Dr. A. Thomas Look (Director of Hematology/Oncology Research at Dana-Farber).
