Children's Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is internationally-known for treating young children and adolescents with all types of cancer and blood disorders. Its services are offered through two distinct services, Hematology and Oncology. The Pediatric Hematology service treats children with all types of non-malignant blood disorders. The Pediatric Oncology service, also called Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care, treats patients with cancer as well as those requiring stem cell transplantation.

Williams will replace Samuel Lux, MD, as division chief. Lux served in this role for almost 24 years.
Hematology - Blood Disorders
Children and adolescents with all forms of non-malignant blood disorders, including anemias, bleeding problems, blood clots, platelet disorders, and red and white blood cell disorders, are treated through the Hematology service. For complex cases, Children's also offers access to the largest pediatric stem cell transplantation program in New England.

Oncology - Cancer and Stem Cell Transplantation
All children and adolescents who have cancer or need a stem cell transplant are treated through the Oncology service, which is also called Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care (DF/CHCC). DF/CHCC is a 60-year-old partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute that provides improved childhood cancer treatment options, reports some of the best outcomes in the country and oversees multiple childhood cancer survivor programs.
