Flower Coming to the Hospital
You and your child will need to come to Children's Hospital Boston for a hematology check up at least once a year, or more frequently as recommended by your child's primary hematologist.

Hematology appointments are scheduled as outpatient visits, which means your child will not stay overnight in the hospital. However, your child might occasionally require an inpatient admission or overnight stay. If an inpatient procedure or admission becomes necessary, our specialists will explain how long your child will have to stay in the hospital and where they will stay.

When can I schedule a Hematology Clinic appointment?
Hematology Clinic is held on Fegan 6 at Children's Hospital Boston during the following times:

  • Monday: 1 - 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Friday: 1 - 5 p.m.
Can I schedule appointments at other Children's locations? Yes, your child may also be scheduled to meet with a physician at Children's Hospital Boston at Lexington.

What should I expect during a typical visit to Hematology Clinic?
Each visit begins with a blood test, that provides samples for our pediatric pathologists to examine under a microscope. After your child's blood is drawn, their primary hematologist will conduct a routine physical examination.

We encourage you to use these visits to discuss any concerns you have about your child's health and to bring up any unusual symptoms that might indicate a health complication.

Your child's physician may also provide educational materials, such as seasonal tips on maintaining long-term care at home or information about a new medication prescribed to your child.

How do I get to my appointment?
