Referring a patient

• If your patient has a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of leukemia, you can make a referral either by using our secure online form or by calling the attending physician on the Oncology Consult Service at 617-632-3352. (On nights and weekends, an attending pediatric oncologist can always be reached at this number via the page operator).
   
• Patients will be referred to either the Jimmy Fund Clinic or the Emergency Department at Children’s Hospital Boston, where they will be evaluated by an oncology fellow and an attending physician. Other physicians may also be involved in the initial assessment.
   
• Most new patients are admitted to the hospital the day of their initial evaluation.
   
• After initial evaluation, we’ll meet with you to have a thorough discussion of your patient's diagnosis, any further necessary testing and recommended treatment options.
