Some diagnostic tests your child may receive to check for the presence of abnormal and excessive immune cells include:

- Biopsy of affected tissue, such as bone, bone marrow, skin, lymph node and/or liver
- Blood samples including blood counts, tests of liver and/or immune system function
- Urine analysis
- X-rays of bones (also called "skeletal survey")
- Bone scan
- Imaging of head (CT and/or MRI scan)
- Genetic tests (if indicated)
