Like all cancer survivors, post-transplant patients must monitor for secondary conditions related to their history of chemotherapy or radiation. The David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Clinic is another one of the resources offered to post-transplant patients to help with this monitoring.
At the Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Clinic, endocrinology, cardiology, gynecology, neurology and other experts work as a team to monitor for late effects like changes in intellectual or hormone function, growth impairments, depression, appearance of secondary cancers and the development of dental or heart problems. Perini Clinic staff members also conduct educational programs, provide psychosocial assessments, offer opportunities to speak with other childhood cancer survivors, and oversee research initiatives aimed toward preventing and alleviating these late effects in future patients.
Childhood cancer survivors of all ages can schedule a Perini Clinic appointment by calling 617-632-5124.
