Thrombophilia Program
The Thrombophilia Program at Children's Hospital Boston provides comprehensive treatment and long term care for patients with thrombophilia, a condition that may increase the risk of developing blood clots, and patients who have a blood clot (thrombus). These include but are not limited to deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, sinus venous thrombosis (cerebral vein clots) and arterial clots.

The Thrombophilia Program is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of hematology specialists who are experts in blood clotting, genetics, and assessment and treatment of thrombosis. The program also includes an anticoagulation service which provides ongoing monitoring and management of inpatients and outpatients. Patients who require indefinite anticoagulation treatment are given the opportunity to acquire at home monitoring devices.
