The ITP Program at Children's Hospital Boston is a world leader in ITP research. Recent studies conducted here include a trial of rituximab, a medication that demonstrated promising results in 30 percent of pediatric patients with chronic ITP. The program also hosts a registry of patients with chronic ITP, and is about to open a study to identify genetic markers that may predict disease severity and response to drug therapy. Another study is exploring the impact of this illness on quality of life.
