About Us
Image Our team of health care professionals has some of the best pediatric medical and nursing subspecialists in the country, including:

Pediatric Gastroenterology
Our pediatric gastroenterology group has more than 75 years combined experience caring for children with IBD.

We diagnose new patients, manage medications, and educate families about causes and treatments for the disease. We also provide second opinion consultations to other gastroenterologists throughout the country. We are conducting research to identify causes and treatments of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

Pediatric Nursing
Our expert team of pediatric IBD nurses and nurse practitioners works hand-in-hand with our physicians in the medical management and education of patients.

Pediatric Nutrition
Children with IBD may have changes in appetite which can lead to inadequate intake of calories, protein, and vitamins. Our team of dietitians can assess intake of nutrients and calories and make appropriate recommendations for improving overall nutrition.

Social Work
Our social worker is available to help families deal with a broad range of psychosocial issues and stresses. This includes addressing the challenges families face in coping with the impact of chronic illness, increasing accessibility to health care and community resources, providing assistance with school/education concerns, developmental or life changes, and addressing parenting or care-giving concerns.

Pediatric Coping Program
IBD can be a stressful illness, and it often starts in adolescence, which can be a difficult time. We offer psychological support and stress management together with medical and nutritional therapy in order to improve patients' well-being.

Pediatric Surgery
Sometimes patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis require surgical intervention. Our surgeons and anesthesiologists have extensive expertise in the preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients with IBD.

Other Pediatric Specialists
At times, children with IBD will have other needs, including treatment of joint pains, skin rashes, and mouth inflammation. We have a large group of additional specialists who are the best in their field at treating these conditions.

Additional Resources
The Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease is closely associated with The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. The CCFA sponsors basic and clinical research of the highest quality. The foundation also offers a wide range of educational programs for patients and health-care professionals, and provides supportive services to help people cope with these chronic intestinal diseases. These programs are supported solely by contributions from the public.
