For Parents
Image How we can help

We are here to help you and your child. To participate, your child must have asthma, live in Jamaica Plain, Roxbury or Mission Hill and be between two and 18 years old.

We will:

  • Work with your child's provider to better control asthma
  • Help you understand your child's asthma action plan
  • Visit you at home to find asthma triggers, review your child's medication and provide you with vacuums, dust covers, etc. for pest management
  • Help you find the resources you need, including housing and insurance
  • Connect you to asthma education opportunities and asthma-friendly activities for your child

It is important for you to know that your child with asthma can be active and healthy with proper medical care.

Important things to know about asthma and your child
  • With good control, children with asthma can be healthy and active.
  • An asthma action plan will help you and your child understand medication use and when to seek emergency care.
  • Learning about your child's triggers and how to avoid them will improve your child's health.

When to talk to your child's health care provider

Talk with your provider if your child:

  • Needs to use an albuterol pump more than two times a week
  • Has trouble sleeping through the night due to asthma
  • Does not have an Asthma Action Plan
  • Seems to have allergies or sensitivies that make their asthma worse
