Children's Community Asthma Initiative Program Honored by EPA


Children's Community Asthma Initiative (CAI) has been selected to receive the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 2010 National Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management for their exemplary efforts to deliver high-quality asthma care that includes environmental controls. Read more to learn how CAI has improved asthma care and reduced hospitalizations.

We help children, who live in communities close to Children's have active and healthy lives. We provide them with health education, home assessments, case management, primary care and community outreach services focused on living with and managing asthma.

Who is eligible for the program?

Children and youth who:

- have been hospitalized at Children's or who have been treated in our emergency department for an asthma-related illness AND

- live in Jamaica Plain, Roxbury or Mission Hill AND

- are between the ages of two and 18 years old
