Physicians who wish to refer a patient for a nuclear medicine procedure should:

- Consult - Call the Division of Nuclear Medicine/PET at 617-355-7010.
- Schedule - Schedule an appointment for the examination with the division
- Obtain patient preparation instructions - Literature explaining all of our procedures along with patient preparation instructions are available through the Division of Nuclear Medicine/PET or on our web site. Please call 617-355-7010 if you would like patient information sent to your office.

Children's Nuclear Medicine staff will:
|

- Contact patient - Routinely we will phone the patient or parent a day prior to examination to review preparation instructions and answer any questions.
- Review the procedure - Once the patient arrives at the Division of Nuclear Medicine/PET, a technologist will review the procedure with the patient and his or her parent.
- Administer tracer - The tracer is administered to the patient via intravenous injection.
- Imaging - Images will be obtained.
- Evaluate and report - The images are processed, viewed and interpreted by Children's nuclear medicine physicians
- Obtain results - You can receive your patient's results and images in the following ways:
- Online: Use Children's Hospital Web Results Reporting application
- Phone: Call the Division of Nuclear Medicine at 617-355-7010
- FAX: Call 617-355-7010 to request results by fax
- Mail: Call 617-355-7010 to request results by mail
