Clinical Services (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Program):
Research
A group of doctors and scientists at Children's Hospital Boston and Massachussets General Hospital for Children and are working together to discover genes that cause Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) and abnormal lung development. Through this study, the team hopes to identify genes that cause CDH and accompanying lung hypoplasia. The ultimate goal is to use new genetic information to design treatments that will enhance lung development before birth, in order to improve survival as well as quality of life.

This genetic study is funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Three hundred and fifty children with CDH, and many of their family members, have already enrolled in the study. For more information on the study, email us at CDHResearchStudy@childrens.harvard.edu.
