Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Program

While in utero, Ryan was diagnosed with severe right-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).

After extensive evaluation and family discussion with Jay Wilson, MD, and AFCC program director Russell Jennings, MD, Ryan underwent an EXIT procedure with trial of ventilation and placement on ECMO. He then underwent subsequent repair of his diaphragm and spent two months at Boston Children's Hospital recovering from his surgery. Ryan is now an active and healthy toddler.
