What to Expect
Image Whether this is your child's first visit to Children's Hospital Boston, or one of many, we know the experience can be stressful for you and your family. Planning ahead and being prepared will help ease your concerns and decrease your wait.

Outpatient Visit: New Patients

Your Arrival
When you arrive at our location on the 8th floor of the Fegan Building at 300 Longwood Avenue (inside the main entrance of Children's Hospital Boston), one of our staff members at the check-in desk will verify your child's personal and insurance information and collect the co-pay (usually $10-$20) for your visit.

You and your child will then go to the waiting area where you will be asked to answer questions regarding your child's health history.

After Your Appointment
After the doctor has seen your child, you will stop at the checkout desk to make any follow-up appointments.

Important Info About Doctors' Notes
Please remember to ask for any necessary letters for school, gym notes, prescription refills or other requests before you leave the office. At any time, please do not hesitate to ask one of our staff members for assistance or information.
Return Patients

Because demographic and insurance information is verified at every visit, please bring your insurance card every time you come to Children's. If your insurance, address or phone number changes, please contact the office so we can update it. This will help us in the event we need to contact you to change your appointment.
