  • "I just experienced the delivery room today and it was amazing! I saw four C-sections and even got to cut the umbilical cord for one of them."

  • "I really liked visiting the Infant Follow-Up Program. It was very interesting to see how the different specialists viewed a particular child's development. The weekly conference was interesting, as well."

  • "For me, the highlights of the Program were gaining research, as well as clinical, experience. Observing residents and attendings at work in the NICU is very inspirational. Also, the research itself was very interesting."

  • "My mentor research experience was one of the most intense periods of skill-building, learning, and personal growth that I've ever encountered. The expectations were high and the learning curve was steep given such a short amount of time. I'm proud of all that I accomplished."

  • "I really enjoyed the clinical aspects of this program. I was so pleased with all of the clinics that I attended because the residents and attendings were willing to take time out and really teach. I also enjoyed working closely with my research mentor because she was very patient and really helped me to understand the reasons behind the procedures and the experiments that I performed."

  • "The delivery room experience was amazing. As a premed student, opportunities like that are rare, and I'm glad that I got to do it. I learned a lot from the weekly conferences; it was an encouraging environment. Also, the simulation was a lot of fun and hands-on."

  • "I really enjoyed the shadowing opportunities. Everyone who works in the NICU is amazing, both at teaching and their duties. All of the doctors were a pleasure to work with, and were really inspiring."

  • "I have always wanted to be a neonatologist, and this Program reaffirmed my desire more than ever! I also am more interested in academic medicine, and plan to take a year off during medical school to do research."

  • "This experience will definitely have a positive impact on my career plans. I have learned a lot about working in a lab, and a lot, generally, about the medical profession."

  • "I think the lab techniques that I learned this summer will be very useful to me in the future. I plan to continue with medical research, and will be attending graduate school for Biotechnology this fall."

  • "The Program gave me a huge insight into what the medical world is like. It made me think about pursuing neonatology and motivated my medical school plans."

  • "The Summer Program has been instrumental in helping me to understand how a physician conducts research by combining clinical knowledge with research expertise. I definitely want to become involved in research during and after medical school."
