Flower Adolescent Health Fellowships
Boston LEAH (Leadership Education in Adolescent Health) offers fellowships in five disciplines:
Adolescent Medicine Fellowship
Applicants to the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship program must have completed a residency program in pediatrics, internal medicine or family practice.

First Year of Fellowship:
The first year involves intensive training through an interdisciplinary adolescent health curricula and ample clinical experience in the Adolescent/Young Adult Medical Practice at Children's Hospital Boston and community based sites.

Second and Third Years of Fellowship:
In the second and third years, the fellows will complete course work in research methodology and health policy and undertake an independent scholarship project, as well as continue clinical work.

Fellows in the program are expected to complete the clinical training and scholarship requirements to become eligible to take the Adolescent Medicine Sub-Board examination. The Adolescent Medicine Fellowship program is ACGME accredited. The program prepares applicants to become leaders in academic or public health positions.

Deadline for written applications: July 1 in the year before starting (for example, July 1, 2006 for July 1, 2007).

Interviews: Scheduled on Fridays in April, May and June.


Nursing Fellowship
Applicants to the Adolescent Nursing Fellowship must be at least master's prepared and have nursing clinical experience that includes adolescent health. The program spans 10 months - September to June, one day a week (currently Tuesdays). The weekly interdisciplinary seminars and clinical practicum are designed to balance knowledge and skills in clinical care, teaching, research and advocacy, depending on the fellow's career trajectory.

Deadline for written applications: April 1, after which interviews may be arranged. Final decisions are made at the end of May or beginning of June.


Psychology Fellowship
Applicants to the one year Psychology Fellowship must have completed their doctoral training in psychology. In conjunction with the Psychology Director, each fellow selects the components of his/her experiential phase of the program. The intent is to match the interest of the fellows with training opportunities available at Children's. The Program provides mentoring and time for the fellow to complete a research project in Adolescent Health.

Deadline for written applications: Fourth Monday in January.

Notification Deadline: March 15.


Nutrition Fellowship
Applicants to the four-month intensive Nutrition Fellowship should have a strong interest in adolescent nutrition and leadership roles. Preference will be given to a registered dietitian who has pediatric work experience and an advanced degree in nutrition. Multidisciplinary opportunities include clinical care (inpatient and outpatient adolescent service, eating disorders, obesity and weight management), community outreach, web based nutrition education, quality improvement and research.

Social Work Fellowship
Applicants to the one year Social Work Fellowship should be a post master's Social Worker with interest or expertise in adolescence. Training includes participation in the seminar series, interdisciplinary care in the Adolescent Medical Practice, research and teaching. The fellowship stresses competency in clinical work with adolescents and assessment and treatment of eating disorders.
