Follow-up visits:

If this is your first visit to our clinic, there may be a one- to two-month waiting period. Emergency appointments are available when necessary.

When canceling an appointment, please give us as much notice as possible, at least 24 hours in advance, so that we may accommodate other patients.

What to bring
  • Your child's PPD measurement and date of the test
  • Previous chest x-rays
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Name and telephone number of your referring physician
  • Co-payment for office visit (if applicable)
  • Any forms mailed to you by our office
What to expect
At your first clinic visit, your child will be seen by one of our doctors or nurse practitioners. The visit will include a complete physical exam and medical history. A variety of tests to help confirm a diagnosis of TB infection may also be performed. These may include:
  • Chest x-ray
  • CT scan
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Sputum analysis
  • Blood work
After your examination, we will discuss our findings with you and recommend the best course of treatment.

We'll also provide you with educational materials about TB and will show you how to care for your child at home, including how to give your child his or her medication.

Your first clinic visit usually lasts 1 to 1? hours. Follow-up visits are usually shorter.

Picking up your prescription
Anti-tuberculosis medications are provided free of charge by the state of Massachusetts. Your prescription must be filled at the Children's Hospital Boston Pharmacy.

Nursing Line
Nurses are available to answer clinical and prescription questions, review test results, and address urgent matters.

Messages can be left for the nursing staff at 617-355-7018. This line is regularly checked between 8 am and 3 pm.
