In Conjunction with Children's Division of Infectious Diseases and General Pediatrics, the Emergency Department also operates the Travel and Geographic Medicine Clinic that provides comprehensive pre-travel services for international travelers, both adults and children. To schedule appointment, please call 617-355-5945.

The Travel and Geographic Medicine Clinic provides a broad array of services, including:

  • Diagnosing and treating tropical infections
  • Medications and immunizations, including yellow fever, typhoid, and pediatric formulations of antimalarial drugs.
  • Consultations with a number of programs at Children's that are related to international medicine, including those dealing with international adoption, health issues for recent immigrants, and travel.
  • Information about illness prevention while traveling
  • Information about injury prevention and travel safety
  • Travel immunizations
  • Preventative medicine
Appointments are recommended at least 4 weeks prior to traveling in order to complete all necessary travel immunizations and counseling.
