Clinical care includes outpatient and inpatient treatment, a wide range of rehabilitative therapies, pain management, outreach to complementary therapies such as acupuncture and massage, and developmental and psychosocial support. Through the Samara Jan Turkel Clinical Center, access to clinical trials for patients and links with basic research will help scientists continue to unravel the mechanisms that lead to autoimmune disease.
In addition, the Center is raising awareness in the medical community and the general public about the critical need for these resources through contact with referring physicians, participation in national and international committees and organizations, and outreach and education at Children's Hospital Boston and beyond.
The Center was established in 2002 as the first of its kind in the country, through the generosity of the Samara Jan Turkel Foundation.
