Clinical Services (Optimal Weight for Life (OWL) Program):
Making an Appointment
The OWL Program gladly accepts new patients from 2 to 21 years of age with their families. Patients under 18 years of age are required to have a parent/guardian present for each visit. Patients under 2 years of age are generally referred to the Clinical Nutrition Service for initial evaluation; exceptions, though rare, can be made on case-by-case basis by one of our attending physicians.
Initial Consultation
A new comprehensive evaluation can be scheduled by calling our office or completing our online request form. Due to a high demand for our program, there may be a significant wait time for new visits. Patients are added to our waiting list and contacted by mail when we are able to schedule an appointment.

Prior to your initial appointment, it will be necessary to provide us with medical information from your child's primary care provider. Copies of the following should be requested and brought with you on your initial visit:
    • laboratory results (obtained outside of Childrens)
    • growth chart
    • last physical exam note
If you are unsure if the OWL Program is appropriate for your child, we recommend that you first speak with your primary care/referring provider. We also offer a one-hour consultation with a psychologist who can help assess readiness for change, fit, and/or recommend other providers or programs. These appointments are readily available with no wait time. Please note that no medical or dietary interventions will be part of this visit. Patients seen for this consult remain on our waiting list until we are able to schedule a comprehensive evaluation. As always, please check with your insurance company regarding coverage.
Return Appointments
Follow-up appointments can be scheduled during your next clinic visit, by calling our office, or completing our online request form.
Missed Appointments
If you are unable to show for your visit, we ask that you call the office at least 2 business days (48 hours) in advance. Given our high demand for appointments, this will allow other patients to be scheduled.
