The Medical Acupuncture Service, offered through the Department of Anesthesia at Children's Hospital Boston, works with children and young adults to help them manage their acute and chronic pain through acupuncture.
The majority of our patients are seen for
- headaches
- abdominal pain
- limb pain
- back pain
- chest pain
Children with cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, endometriosis, Crohn disease and other medical diseases are also treated and form a challenging but rewarding group of patients to work with.
Medical Acupuncture Clinic
The Clinic is a weekly outpatient service that features acupuncture treatment of children and adolescents who have a variety of pain problems. These include headache, fibromyalgia, low back pain, patellofemoral syndrome, endometriosis, Crohn disease, nausea related to chemotherapy, chronic fatigue syndrome and others.
The majority of patients come weekly for four to six weeks and then return for monthly follow-ups.
Locations
We have two locations for our services.
For inpatient appointments, we are located at Children's Hospital Boston at 300 Longwood Avenue.
For outpatient appointments, we are located at Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham.
