Description: For the first time, this course is being offered jointly by Children's Hospital Boston, a Harvard teaching hospital, and Boston Medical Center, a Boston University teaching hospital, and will feature lectures on current topics in infectious disease which are important to practicing pediatricians and clinicians.

Drs. Burchett, Klein, McIntosh, and Pelton have assembled an outstanding faculty to discuss a wide array of topics, including infections in neonates, adolescents, foreign travellers and adoptees and what is new in the diagnosis and management of selected infections such as influenza, staphylococcus and pneumococcus. Newer vaccine availability and efficacy for prevention of infections in children and adolescents will be presented.

Workshops will provide opportunity for dialogue about lyme disease diagnosis, management and complications; the world epidemic of pediatric HIV, malaria and tuberculosis; litiginous concerns; and STI guidelines. The session entitled "Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the News" will focus on topics of immediate importance, and the two sessions entitled "Your Diagnosis, Please" will discuss cases that may have presented a diagnostic or management dilemma.

Registrants are invited to submit a case for discussion by e-mail to Dr. Sandra Burchett
