Clinical Services (Child Protection Program):
Child Protection Clinical Services Program
Overview

The Child Protection Clinical Services Program (CPCS) is an outpatient child maltreatment clinic staffed by psychologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers and physicians with extensive expertise in the evaluation andresponse to child maltreatment.

Through our Foster Care Clinic and our Crisis Response Clinic we offer medical, developmental and psychosocial screening, limited treatment and referral to children who are suspected to have been maltreated and to children who have recently entered DCF custody while offering parents and other treatment providers expert consultation on a range of issues related to child maltreatment.

Children may be referred to the CPCS by Children's Hospital clinical staff, the Department of Children and Families, by their pediatricians, or by parents/guardians.

Consultation

CPCS staff may offer expert consultation on symptoms of trauma, normative child development, navigation of the child protective service delivery system, and community resources to care providers and parents.

Training

The CPCS team also provides training to the hospital and local community agencies, mental health providers and educators.
